Chestnut Homes are one of the leading new home developers in Lincolnshire. We enjoy an enviable reputation for building quality new homes on attractive well designed developments, varying in size from 50 units up to 500 units. The company continues to grow in a planned and sustainable way, and we are looking to appoint a driven and ambitious Surveyor to help us deliver our ambitions.

Working very closely with the Directors, you will manage the surveying function of the business to help deliver the company&rsquo;s expanding development programme across the county in a planned and effective manner. The role will be wide &amp; varied, but will include the following:-

Contractors:

<ul>
	<li>Preparation of tender documents for Labour Only and Bona Fide subcontracts; analysis of tenders &amp; placing of orders following sign off by a Director</li>
	<li>Contract management</li>
	<li>Taking off drawings &amp; preparation of labour rates. Updating labour rates as required</li>
	<li>Processing contractors&rsquo; claims &amp; dealing with any issues that arise</li>
	<li>Code contractors&rsquo; invoices &amp; time sheets for processing by Payroll &amp; Accounts Department</li>
</ul>

Pre-construction Works: 
Archaeology, ecology, contamination, remediation, demolition, ground investigations etc. :-

<ul>
	<li>Obtaining quotations for investigation works and site preparation works, including the preparation of tender documents and the placing of orders following sign off by a Director</li>
	<li>Contract management</li>
	<li>Ensuring that the necessary remediation statements/compliance certificates etc. have been received</li>
	<li>Processing contractors&rsquo; claims &amp; dealing with any issues that arise</li>
</ul>

Services:

<ul>
	<li>Liaise with the Engineering Manager as required in obtaining quotations for the provision of mains &amp; services to all developments, including the preparation of tender documents and the placing of orders following sign off by a Director</li>
	<li>Liaise with the Engineering Manager as required in the contract management for all mains &amp; service works, including processing payments, liaising with the Construction Department, and helping to ensure that mains and services are available when required</li>
	<li>Ensure that invoices are sent out for work carried out by CHL in respect of mains &amp; service (e.g. BT)</li>
	<li>Coordinate rebate claims for any works carried out for mains &amp; service providers</li>
</ul>

Budgets &amp; Costs:

<ul>
	<li>Produce budget infrastructure and services costs for land appraisals</li>
	<li>Produce projected cost to complete for infrastructure works etc. for the Accounts Department</li>
	<li>Produce budget costs for standard dwelling types and keep updated</li>
	<li>Work with the finance department to monitor actual costs against budgets</li>
</ul>

Experience &amp; attributes required:

<ul>
	<li>Ability to work as part of a busy team, but also be confident in your own ability &amp; decision making</li>
	<li>Excellent technical knowledge, and proven experience in a similar role</li>
	<li>Excellent organisational, oral and written skills</li>
	<li>Good negotiation skills</li>
	<li>Commercially aware and ability to add value</li>
	<li>Good IT skills</li>
	<li>Hardworking, reliable and have a very positive attitude</li>
	<li>Clean driving licence</li>
	<li>Attention to detail</li>
</ul>

 
This role will suit a Surveyor with considerable experience in the residential development sector, however we are also happy to support any training that may be required to cover any gaps in experience.
