An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a Employee Relations (ER) and Policy Manager to join our team. This role is an operational and strategically aligned HR professional role that will take responsibility for facilitating and maintaining a positive relationship with our recognised Trade Unions. Alongside this, you'll l lead on the review, development and implementation of policies and procedures.
 
Other responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
  • Working alongside subject matter experts across the business, you’ll be ultimately responsible for managing and maintaining Society-wide policies, in-line with internal review schedules and any legislative/business updates.
  • Leading on writing / on-going development of the HR policies and procedures, working to ensure consistency of approach and compliance with current employment legislation, and ensuring policies align with the Society’s needs and create a supportive employee experience.
  • Engaging and communicating with relevant stakeholders when updating and implementing policies, including working with the Learning and Development team to produce and deliver any training, 
  • Partnering with the People Team to ensure consistent interpretation and application of new/updated policies and procedures.
  • Providing expert guidance, advice and support on complex policy matters to relevant People Team members, managers and colleagues, across a range of policy areas.
  • Performing horizon scanning to keep up to date with HR best practices and employment legislation.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you'll need to show us:

  • CIPD qualified with an up to date and in-depth working knowledge of employment law and employee relations best practice.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of working effectively with trade unions and other employee representatives.
  • Experience in developing, writing and implementing HR policies and procedures. 
  • Experience of working across a diverse and complex organisation.
  • Excellent written skills with ability to translate complex legal and HR matters into plain English for a range of audiences and material including report writing and online guidance and advice.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team. 
  • Able to develop effective internal and external relationships and networks
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
You'll be able to show us excellent verbal and written communication skills, enjoy working with people and be able to work in a confident manner to deliver results. You'll be organised, methodical and able to maintain accurate records, demonstrate good time management with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise as necessary. You'll also be able to show us experience of analysing complex information and the ability communicate this to a range of audiences.
